Ocotober the 18th, Two Thousand Seven
Journal Entry: Wed Oct 17, 2007, 11:06 PM
I don't know how many people read this or what not, but here is the beginning of my Deviant Art project. I haven't really cared much up until now, primarily because I couldn't get past the format.
Ah well, I was bored tonight and started on it.
So here's my goal for the journal entries: I want to use it to explain my poem. I don't really like putting that information in the comments, because I feel that would take away from the work. So, I'll post a poem once a week and then post a subsequent journal to go with it and explain it.
Originally titled, "Some Un-Lucky Day in October, Two Thousand Seven ", tonight's poem was posted on Myspace Saturday the Thirteenth of October, in Two Thousand and Seven. I enjoy the use of repetition quite a bit, so long as it doesn't start to sound tedious. I believe that I've accomplished that in this poem. What is bothersome about this poem is the part that I like the most, which is the insane moodiness. I hate people when they over speculate about things. People can jump to conclusions and drive everybody nuts before they know the real answer and before they know it, they've replaced whatever the real answer was with their idea of what happened. My grandma does this in talking about how everyone has three faces and assumed it recently of my grandpa before he died and was in the hospital. She said his "third face" showed or what not when the truth of the matter was that grandpa really just didn't like hospitals. That was it.
I particularly enjoyed the usage of my last couple of lines in which it's not entirely clear whether or not the song was ever sung and the narrator finds himself just as disoriented as the entire poem from the usage of speculation.
I sung a song once about
The fevor about the abhor
Of speculation, I do speculate.
I hope the imagery plays off well. I enjoy science fiction, books, music and movies that make me feel as if I'm traveling through the galaxy. I hope by the usage of the imagery there is some clarity about the journey into and out of speculation that I'm taking the reader.
